‘Moments in Time’ Opens at ARTS June 4
Three artists, three voices, three distinct expressions will be seen at the exhibition Moments in Time, opening Saturday, June 4th, at Arts for Rural Texas in Fayetteville.
The exhibit celebrates the beauty of the watermedia paintings by Linda Bateman, Mary E. Quiros and Anne Brennan Vela.
The three women are friends who work independently but take time to come together on a regular basis when they travel to various locations to paint and create. While each artist has her own individual style, colorful, intimate observations are a constant in their work. All three acclaimed painters have earned a list of major award throughout their careers.
Linda Bateman’s colorful watercolors are executed in the traditional, transparent method on paper. Following the centuries old method of painting, she breaks from the traditional English Method of Watercolor and creates powerful, intense paintings with expressive flows more typical of the American Method of Watercolor.
Mary E. Quiros’ paintings reflect expressive brushwork and energetic blending of pigment on the paper. Patterns and shapes of color explode into abstracted forms that engage the viewer.
Anne Brennan Vela departs from tradition and creates passionate, abstract paintings. While her works may be filled with color, there is a greater emphasis on line and texture as her almost frantic linear works fill the surface and create images that weave layer upon layer of brushwork. Moments in Time opens on Saturday, June 4, at 4 p.m. The reception is a free event open to the public from the hours of 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the ARTS’ Ross Gallery at 114 North Live Oak in Fayetteville, Texas. The exhibit will be open from June 4 – July 23, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Arts for Rural Texas is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing art and cultural experiences for residents and visitors of the region.
