On Memorial Day Monday at 7 p.m. on the square, members of the Shelby American Legion are presenting another amazing program featuring some talented musicians to honor our local area veterans who have passed this year.

Memorial Day Holiday In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, City offices, the post office and Fayetteville Bank will be closed on Monday, May 26.

Fayetteville ISD 

A few FISD projects during the summer break include repaving the parking lot, revamping the courtyard, the track and replacing some windows. Fayetteville VFD

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Fire and EMS Call Report for April: April 7, Wash down at an accident on State Hwy. 159 at Willow Springs Rd.

April 7, Grass and brush fire on State Hwy. 159 at Treybig Loop.

April 9, Grass fire on S. FM 1291 in Colorado County.

April 14, First responder assist Medic 2 on FM 2503 at Park Prarie Rd.

April 18, Assist LCRA Rangers, FCSO, La Grange VFD with a water rescue at Power Plant Lake at Park Prairie.

April 25, GRASS fire on State Hwy. 159 at Columbus Hall Lane.

Residents are reminded by Chief Noviske to please post your 911 addresses so emergency services can locate your residence when needed. 911 signage can be purchased at the courthouse in La Grange from the 911 Coordinator.

Remodeling Project 

In addition to her work as a bookkeeper at Industry State Bank, Annie Scherer preserves, renovates and sells old homes, a passion she inherited from her father who flipped homes in Columbus. Continuing the family tradition, Scherer recently arranged for an old two-bedroom, one-bath house to be moved from the Houston’s Heights neighborhood to E. Main St. in Fayetteville. The ongoing remodeling project will expand the home by 300 to 400 square feet before it’s placed on the market.

jar: 2” olive oil 1” white wine vinegar The juice of half a freshly squeezed lemon Pinch of salt and pepper 2 generous cloves of crushed garlic 1 T granulated raw sugar (or you can use honey to taste) Optional: ½ T of whole grain mustard You may choose to add more or less of anything based on your tastes. It will be quite tart to begin with. And it can be doubled easily.

Shake it all together. Let it sit for an hour at room temperature. Refrigerate.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
