McFarlin Wins Clay And Turkey Shoot

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church held their Clay and Turkey Shoot recently on a warm Saturday afternoon. Winning both the Clay and the Turkey shoot buckles was Muldoon’s own Steven Mc-Farlin. Steven was on his game with his shots and did some impressive shooting in order to achieve this impressive goal.

The Clay and Turkey Shoot is also held in the spring along with the fall and is just one of the fundraisers that help support the youth and all the outreaches that the church is involved with. So get ready for the spring shoot and come out, have lots of fun and maybe you too can win one of the fantastic buckles that are up for grabs.

Out and About

Ron and Pam Knotts recently had some business in New Braunfels and dinnertime found them still in the area, so for a special treat they visited Clear Springs Restaurant on Highway 46. The restaurant is known for their fabulous onion rings piled high on a big plate, usually shared by the whole table. Opting to skip the onion rings this time Ron and Pam shared a plate of catfish, shrimp and crawfish tails. Coleslaw and beans rounded out the meal with extra hush puppies to die for. One last look at the dessert menu resulted in one slice after dinner and one slice for home later. Ron and Pam always find the best places to eat and have been known to plan their trips by the restaurants in that area and this is no exception. It was the best way to finish off a day of business before coming home.

A group of neighbors in the Muldoon area got together on a recent Saturday morning to check out the newly revised Farmer’s Market in downtown Flatonia. Pam Sheffield, DeLayne McCullough, and Pam Knotts met friend Anne Wright at the Civic Center and headed straight for the outside market to look for baked goods. Sourdough bread and muffins got the day off to a good start. Heading inside they made the rounds of the colorful displays stopping to talk to several of the vendors about their products. There were food items, handmade toys, place mats, jewelry, plants and lots more. It was also fun to see other neighbors and friends and spend a few minutes catching up.

Nancie Blair took off to Fort Worth for a few days to spend with her mom, Elaine Lang and sister and brotherin- law, Lu and Fred Ginapp. They attended the last home game for the Rangers. They had a great time as the Rangers finished with a win. The gals did a little shopping and had lunch with Nancie’s niece and nephew, Chrystal and Steve Riddell and had a wonderful visit all while enjoying some cooler temperatures.

James and I left for a week up to Frisco, where James acquired CEUs and I enjoyed shopping the area. We enjoyed lots of really nice restaurants and found a couple that will qualify for new favorites. We will be looking for any new locations that might open up closer, especially Coco Shrimp.

Erica Field enjoyed having her parents Beth and Jack Field come to visit everyone on the Boehnke Ranch. Beth and Jack got to take Beth’s dad, Devon Boehnke to church at Flatonia Baptist Church on Sunday and then they all took off to join Beth’s sister and brother-in-law, Dana and Darrell Kulak at the Cistern Picnic.

Fall Round Up

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is working hard on getting ready for their major fundraiser of the year, The Fall Round Up on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. They have all kinds of games planned for, a live auction, pony rides, cake walks and so much more. Plan to save the date and come spend some time in Muldoon at the SG2C and get your raffle tickets for a chance to win a nice heifer.

Weather

On Tuesday night there was lots of rumbling, and the promise of a good shower was in the air, but the majority of the area only had a noise and light show with no real rain. The ground was damp, but no real measurable amount was recorded.
