On Saturday, February 25, Arts for Rural Texas and its Ross Gallery will be amidst a Blaze of Glory – a thrilling one-woman show about courage and tenacity of Texas’ first women heroes.

In this vibrant performance, professional actress Mary Margaret Mann of Houston leads her audience on a journey into the heritage of Texas. Mann brings to life remarkable women whose lives reflect true courage and visionary thinking. In this oneact play, these voices are sure to stir the flame of freedom in your heart as you reflect on Texas’ storied past.

Mary Margaret Mann of Houston, is an accomplished actress, author, and speaker, specializing in one-woman performances. Through years of performance, the actress’ personal style of informative entertainment – “edutainment” – was created. She brings alive to audiences her many characters ranging from Mary Todd Lincoln to Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Mrs. Noah. She contributed to a book which is in the White House Library.

Mann has served on staff for the Lifelong Learning Society of Florida Atlantic University at the Boca Raton campus and the FAU Honors College located in Jupiter, Florida, plus the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Texas Medial Branch in Galveston, Texas. She also served on the national executive board of the National League of American Pen Women, headquartered in Washington, DC.

Mary Margaret was published in a special Abraham Lincoln issue of the Nova History Publication, White House Studies, a copy of which is in the White House Library, and a Pen Women Press anthology entitled Happy Birthday, Mr. Lincoln: A Commemorative Collage. The anthology published to celebrate the Lincoln Bicentennial, was awarded the George Washington Honor Medal by the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Blaze of Glory will be offered at a matinee show at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for the pre-event wine service.
