Journeyman Blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg, VA, Mark Sperry will be the featured demonstrator at this year’s Texas Blacksmithing Conference. Mark Sperry has been smithing for over 30 years and the majority of that time he has been working at the Anderson Forge of Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia where he uses techniques used in the 18th century to create reproductions of historic objects for the reconstructed city. Prior to working at Williamsburg, Mr. Sperry ran his own blacksmithing business. He is also a Forged in Fire champion of Season 5, Episode 18. With such a wealth of knowledge and diverse experiences this will be a great demonstration that you won’t want to miss. Sperry will be doing both the morning, 9 a.m.-noon, and afternoon, 2 p.m-5 p.m., sessions on Saturday.

The Texas Blacksmith Conference is held in conjunction with the Texas Antique Gas Engine Reunion at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center this Friday and Saturday, January 27-28. Grounds open at noon on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

This is a free event with many displays, demonstrations, and vendors. Concessions will also be available. A live auction featuring blacksmith tools and other collectibles will be at 1 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the blacksmith shop construction in the TCHCC Czech Village.
