Hunter Safety Course

A free FISD Hunter Safety course for FISD students only is being held at the school this Saturday at 9 a.m. The course, taught by Bob Gulash, LCRA Ranger, is sponsored by Fred Roberts of Roberts and Associates and Justice of the Peace Jamie Moreau.

“Fred Roberts and I are excited to sponsor this for Fayetteville students,” stated Moreau.“ Mr. Roberts wants to support kids being properly licensed through Texas Parks and Wildlife. I’m driven to support kids having professional gun safety knowledge to promote injury prevention. We wanted to come together to not only schedule the class conveniently in Fayetteville but also provide it at no cost. Special thanks to Bob Gulash and FISD for making it possible.” Go to the Fayetteville ISD Facebook page or call (979) 378-2573 for more information. Malota Anniversary At the 60-year anniversary celebration for Justin and Jean Malota, hosted by the Malota siblings last Saturday, over 100 friends and family members shared cherished memories and indulged in a delicious buffet and diamondshaped cake.

St. Paul Anniversary

You’ve read all about the 130-year anniversary of St. Paul Lutheran in last week’s Record. Join in the festivities this Sunday, which will include a service, catered meal and a slide show highlighting the church’s rich history. It begins with a Shared Lutheran Ministries joint service at 10:30 a.m. led by ELCA Bishop Michael Rinehart and Pastor Jen Kindsvatter. The meal of baked chicken, ham and fixings will follow worship. A freewill donation is optional.

Recipe for Spicy Honey

This sauce has just the right balance of sweet and heat. While you can buy it pre-made, this takes less than five minutes and you probably already have honey in the pantry. Note: If your honey is crystallized, simply warm it up in the jar or bottle in warm water.

Serves 4 to 6 (Makes 1/4 cup) Ingredients ¼ cup honey 2 Tablespoons hot sauce* Directions Stir honey and hot sauce together in liquid measuring cup. Microwave until sauce comes to boil, about one minute. Continue to microwave in 20-second intervals until sauce is reduced to ¼ cup, about one minute. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Serving suggestions: 1. Add it to grilled cheese. 2. Drizzle it over pizza. 3. Dunk hushpuppies in it. 4. Serve it on a charcuterie board.

5. Use it to level-up your avocado toast or (even better) whipped feta toast.

6. Sweeten up your morning eggs.

7. Add dimension to grilled veggies.

8. Mix it into salad dressing.

9. Slap it on top of fried chicken.

10. Stir it into some softened butter and slather it on toast or a biscuit.

*If you can, use vinegary Frank’s Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce. Do not substitute a thick hot sauce, such as Sriracha; it will make the honey too thick to drizzle. Microwaving in 20-second intervals will prevent the mixture from boiling over.
