Lutheran Early Response Team Informational Meeting Sunday
Everyone is invited to attend an informational meeting/ luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Holy Cross in Warda on LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team.) This is to learn more about the possibility of forming a network of volunteers trained to respond in times of disaster. Speaker Rev. Michael Meyer, LCMS Managing Director for Congregations and Districts, will present the program. Lunch will be served at noon, followed at 12:30 p.m. by the informational meeting on how you can join in this loving act of service. FLHS Oktoberfest
Faith Lutheran High School’s Annual Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, New this year will be the Battle of the Vines, in addition to the Battle of the Brew-both are home brew competitions. Submissions need to be made by 10 a.m.
You can check out the FLHS Facebook page or contact the school for more information regarding the contest. Returning will be the traditional German meal of brats, noodles, green beans, potato salad, kraut, bread and coffee cake. Meal tickets are now available for $15 each and are pre-sale only. The meal will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Cross picnic grounds.
A concession stand will be open all day with hot dogs, warm pretzels, cheese and nuts. Silent auction items will be available for bidding until 1:15 p.m. Children’s games and activities will begin at noon and include bounce house, temporary tattoos, photo backdrop, pumpkin painting, hayride and more. Domino 42 and cornhole tournaments will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Trunk Puzzle Swap
If you like to do jigsaw puzzles, you may want to attend the new Trunk Puzzle Swap that will be held on Sunday afternoon Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. in the church parking lot at Holy Cross 600 FM 1482 Warda. This event is organized under the Free Jigsaw Puzzle Swap Central Texas Group and hosted by the Outreach Group of Holy Cross. If you’ve never been to a puzzle swap, it’s very simple. Bring your puzzles with boxes taped shut or pieces sealed in zip lock bags, complete puzzles are preferred, if any pieces are missing, please clearly note this on the front of the box. Arrive approximately 15 minutes early, lay your puzzles out in your trunk, on the ground or in the back of your hatchback. You can walk around and look at other puzzles but no swapping till the start time. At 4 p.m. the host will announce the start and you simply walk around and take puzzles that you like. It’s a great way to share puzzles with other puzzlers.
Serve Day at Tejas Camp
Tejas Camp and Retreat Center is hosting a Serve Day on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. You are invited to come out and join them for a day of serving, giving back and helping to set the stage for Jesus to transform lives. All skill sets and ages are welcome. Projects are flexible to fit each skill and age and could include landscaping, painting, construction, cleanup, office work etc. this fun day includes lunch, supper and some late afternoon recreation. Bluff Creek Blowout
Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will hold The Bluff Creek Blowout on Oct. 14-15. This is a 24-hour Terra Firma racing event that can be done solo or on a team of up to 10 people. More information on this race, other mountain bike races or trail riding can be found at www.bcrwarda.com Holy Cross Game Day The Game Day at Holy Cross Lutheran Church is returning. The first game day will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 from 2-4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This will be a fun afternoon of games (cards, board games, dominoes, puzzles, etc.), it is a great opportunity to get out and get to know people. There will be refreshments served. Neighbors Night Out
Neighbors Night Out in Warda will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 beginning at 4 p.m. at the picnic grounds. Everyone in the Warda area is invited to attend. Planned speakers include TXDOT, information on local oil drilling and activity and Q & A on the state of St. Marks Hospital. Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
Sunday Oct. 8 is Mission Sunday and our guest Preacher will be Rev. Michael Meyer, LCMS Managing Director for Congregations and Districts.
Reformation Sunday will be observed at the Oct. 9 worship service.
