Lunch N Learn Series Begins With Pruning Landscape Trees Feb. 13
The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of nine informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping information for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of programs from experts in the area and across the state. This series is designed with the homeowner in mind; bring your lunch and learn about a variety of topics that help you have a more productive garden, prettier flower beds, or how to better understand your landscape ecosystems.
The topic this month, “Pruning Landscape Trees,” is scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 13 and the guest speaker is Logan McMillan - Texas Forest Service. Pruning trees and shrubs is perhaps the least understood and most abused of all gardening chores. Many people prune their plants for the same reason some climb mountains because they are there. They head outdoors with loppers and a saw in hand with little knowledge of the plant’s ideal form, the best time to prune, the proper way to make a pruning cut or when to stop. Incorrect pruning results in poor growth, unnatural plant forms, poor flower and fruit production, and even allows disease to set in potentially killing your tree in the long run.
Registration is from 11:50 a.m. until 12:05 p.m. and the program lasts until 12:50 p.m.. The Lunch-N-Learn Series are held at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.
All Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn programs are free to the public and you are encouraged to bring your own lunch and drink. Light refreshments are available by Master Gardener hospitality hosts.
