Lunch & Learn Continues at Senior Connections

As July came to an end, there were July 2022 Birthdays to celebrate. The center had Bingo with Sandy Schaefer, from Regency in Hallettsville, and had an “out to lunch bunch” on Friday, July 22.

Alfreda Ellison and Dineen Thayer, both from Weimar, and Margaret Winkler, who is a new member from Hallettsville, all celebrated a birthday in July at Senior Connections, Alfreda and Dineen were present on Birthdays of the Month Day, so each one was presented with a corsage, members sang Happy Birthday to them, and all shared a beautiful Red Velvet cake to celebrate their happy day.

Susie Shank was a great Lunch & Learn series speaker on July 11; She told members about the new ACCSS program that is being run out of Blinn College in Schulenburg. Susie will work with the surrounding high schools to encourage dual credit enrollment to expose students to more career planning, and to encourage the use of Blinn College as a transition into the college world. Programs like this will ensure that students are exposed to the best programs and curriculums that are out there so that their success is always foremost on all of our minds.

There was a great turnout for the Lunch & Learn series speaker and topic on Monday, July 25. Officer TJ McCleney gave members a lot to be mindful information to be prepared as they go about their day-to-day routines.

This learning experience at Senior Connections has exposed new techniques, an enhanced sense of awareness, and has warned members of potential situations that could arise.

The next Lunch & Learn series speaker on Aug. 1 will be a massage therapist to teach members about relaxation and tension releases.

Most days of the week, the Senior Center is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center provides this schedule so folks can see what is coming up, what is new, and what there is to do. There is also a monthly calendar online at www.navidadvalleycc.org.
