    Local Youth Place at Lee County Junior Livestock Show Recently

The following youth placed in the recent Lee County Junior Livestock Show: Clara Adams-8th place rabbits, Dylan Beck-10th place rabbits, Weston Beck-9th place rabbits, Brandon Burgdorf- 3rd place hog and 1st in class haltered commercial heifer, Karly Hentschel-8th place broilers, Cooper Hinze-Grand Champion rabbits and 4th place bred commercial heifer, Brooke Lehmann-4th place hog and 4th place goat, Jay Woelfel-11th place broilers and 7th place rabbits. Layna Woelfel-3rd place rabbits, Rayli Woelfel-19th place broilers, 6th place rabbits and showmanship.

Warda Bunch Show Fund 

The Warda Bunch Show Fund (supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors) will have a BBQ Pork Fundraiser on Saturday, April 13. BBQ pork butts will be sold by the piece. Each piece will be approximately 2.5-4 lbs. for $10.50/ lb. Cups of sauce will be available for $3 each. Order by the number of pieces you would like (not by the pound). Call the church office at (979) 2423333 to place your order by April 3. Pick up will be at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds from 4-6 p.m.

Fish Fry Fundraiser 

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society will have their Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser on Sunday, March 17. Plates include fried fish, homemade potato salad, pinto beans, coleslaw and hush puppies. Presale tickets are available at the Wendish Museum and First National Bank of Giddings for $15. This will be a drive-thru pick up only from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. There will also be a Country Store available to purchase desserts, dry Wendish noodles and more.

Bluff Creek Ranch 

Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda has bike riding trails that are open every day from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. They also offer primitive camping spots. Visit their website at bcrwarda. com for event information or follow them on Facebook at Bluff Creek Ranch Warda for the latest trail updates.

Mother and DaughterWeekend 

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be hosting their Mother and Daughter Weekend Getaway on April 5-7. This is a great opportunity for mothers and daughters (ages 8-18) to build on their relationship while creating great memories to last a lifetime. Knox Memorial Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for The Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship. This is a four-year academic based scholarship for an incoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2024. Applications are due May 1 and are available from the school or from Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church.) You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday March 21 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo, dominoes and board games are offered.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Freddie Zoch who passed away on Feb. 26.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Wednesday night Bible Study at Holy Cross Lutheran is taking a break during Lent and will resumeApril 3 at 6:30 p.m. This covers the book of 2nd Samuel, which discusses the reign of David. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no cost to join. To join this group, contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. This covers the book “Has American Christianity Failed?” by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. Everyone is invited. Please call the church office at (979) 242-3333 to request a copy of the book for the low price of $9.

Lenten Services will be held Wednesday’s March 13 and 20 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
