Local Children’s Book Author Nancy Addison Receives Several Distinctions

Fayette County author Nancy Addison’s latest children’s book stacked up some international accolades this year.

Addison self-published the book “For the Love of Willy” in 2021 as an art therapy activity book. It tells the story of Rose, a woman who finds an injured baby squirrel and nurses him back to health. She names him Willy, and the two become good friends. But when Rose needs to find a new home, she must find Willy a new place to live. Rose is sad about saying goodbye, but she learns to find happiness in her memories and art.

The book was named a Gold Winner in the Mom’s Choice Award for Excellence in 2021. That same year it earned a Maincrest Media Book Award. This year, it won Best Children’s Book and Best of Festival at both the London Book Festival and the New York Book Festival.
