Fayetteville ISD just sent out the eligibility and application information for the 2022 Lickskillet Queen and Court Pageant to be held Thursday, Oct. 13. Applicants must be enrolled in Fayetteville ISD first grade through grade 12. There is one queen for each age group: Little Miss, Younger Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Lickskillet as well as Talent, Miss Congeniality and Most Photogenic. Entry fee is $15 per contestant. Pick up applications at school or by contacting Pageant Coordinator, Brandi Daniel at (979) 255-8131 or by email at brandibell44@yahoo.com.

BettyYoakum Betty Yoakum was in great spirits in a recent visit from special friends. She enjoyed flowers from her many well-wishers of the Fayetteville Birthday Club.

Congratulations Congratulations to our award-winning residents who won top honors at the Fayette County Fair recently: Kathy Sauer for her watercolor, Tulip Bouquet and Emil Knodell won for his photograph entitled Old Gulf Station.

Concert Beppe Gambetta, an Italian flatpicking guitar maestro, will be entertaining all at the Wine Bar at the Grand Fayette Hotel next Thursday, Sept. 22. Gambetta has been called a “virtual United Nations of influences.” The concert with dinner is $90 per person. Concert only is $30. per person. Contact Chef George at (979) 716-6988 for reservations.

Museum The Fayetteville museum is open on most Saturdays from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. but this Saturday, there will be extended hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The museum features historical merchandise, instruments and orchestra photos, wonderful photos of our town and school and yearbooks dated from 1940. If you can’t visit during these hours, feel free to contact Bob at (832) 904-6290 or Debby at (979) 249-6249. There is no charge to visit, but donations are appreciated.

Exhibit The opening for the exhibit Divergent II is featuring works by Jerry Brown and Art Stokes this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the ARTS Gorman Gallery at 1201 S. Kessler in Schulenburg. The show runs through Oct. 19 and is a part of the Houston International FotoFest event.

Lions Club The drawing for the Fayetteville Lions Club gun raffle will be held at a Lions Club meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22. Tickets are still available at Orsak’s, Fayetteville Bank, Westside Grocery, the Fayetteville Store and from any Lions Club member.

Food Truck Remember the Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church this Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. It’s drive-thru distribution and will follow all CDC guidelines.
