LHS Class of 1953 Gets Back Together

The La Grange High School Class of 1953 held its 69th reunion Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Frisch Auf Valley Country Club. Twelve classmates along with 10 spouses and friends celebrated and recalled memories. The class consisted of 61 members. Records show that 36 classmates remain alive. Those present recognized those who have passed. Pictured (front row, from left) are Lucille Blume Strickland, Jo Ann Albers Mueller, Beatrice Stoerner Rost, John Hofmann, Gloria Baca Merwin, (back row) John C. Niemeyer, Frankie Walla, Lawrence Hatfield, Leslie Oppermann, Daniel Drab, Edward Freudenberg, and J. Weldon Koenig.

Jo Ann Mueller, Gloria Merwin, Lucille Strickland, and Weldon Koenig were the reunion organizers. Dick Smith provided piano music. It was a great evening and plans are underway to do it again in two years, for the 71st reunion. All are hoping that all classmates will attend for a fun-packed event. “We of 53” are still going as best we can.
