LGISD Superintendent Addresses Noon Lions
Thursday, the La Grange Noon Lions Club heard from La Grange Independent School District’s new superintendent, Dr. Andy McHazlett. Dr. McHazlett spoke passionately about his former days in La Grange as a coach to many of the member’s children, and how honored he and his wife are to be back in this new and exciting role.
He also gave an interesting perspective on the tragic events in Uvalde along with many of the lessons learned that are now being implemented at LGISD campuses with regard to school safety. He shared with the club his philosophy of Trust, Relationships, Intentionality, and Transformation. His approach is to build trust among the students, teachers and parents in LGISD by doing what he says he will do. He then plans to build relationships dedicating time each week on campus so he is engaged, listening and in tune with campus events and challenges.
Dr. McHazlett is currently developing a 30/90/120-day plan which he will implement with intentionality. This focus will see initiatives through implementation. And finally, part of his intention is to bring transformational changes that build on positives and improve on negatives to continue to enhance educational outcomes for all LGISD students. The club greatly appreciated the presentation and his enthusiasm for the new role.
