Ledbetter Lane of Lights Open Nov. 29

The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring its annual Christmas Lane of Lights, beginning the day after Thanksgiving.

Come enjoy the fun family event for all ages with a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections from 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, cash or check only. Children two years and under are free. There will be live musical entertainment and Santa will be there each night.

Tickets are available near the intersection of FM 1291 and Hwy. 290.

Dates are Nov. 29 and 30, Dec. 6 and 7, Dec. 13 and 14, and Dec. 20 and 21. All proceeds benefit the Ledbetter VFD.

Seafarers Boxes Collection Seafarers Boxes are being collected by the congregation of Martin Luther Lutheran Church to be taken to the Port of Houston. Full-sized items are preferred over the small travel size.

Requested are fabric Band-aids, dental floss, antiperspirant/ deodorant, disposable razors, Gold Bond cream and powder, hairbrush or comb, hand wipes, lip balm, lotion, nail clippers, Q-tips, shaving cream, shampoo/conditioner/ body wash three in one, toothbrushes, toothpaste, new baseball caps, chewing gum, hard candy, earbuds, headphones, flashlights with batteries, handkerchiefs, key chains, magnets, mechanical pencils, pens, needle and thread sewing kits, non-perishable snacks, playing cards, pocket-sized notebooks, 2025 pocket-size calendars, new socks, Texas souvenirs, new T-shirts sizes M, L, and XL, word search books, and Sudoku books. Please no liquid soap, bar soap, or bottled water.

The items may be brought to the church until noon on Monday, Nov. 25, when they will be packed for shipment.

RT-C School News 

Varsity boys’ basketball team hosts Waelder on Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. for their first game of the season. The team hosts Snook on Nov. 19, also at 5.

RT-C Cubettes varsity volleyball team finished out its district play with a win against Fayetteville on Oct. 29, securing the district championship. Jill and Tess Eilers were honored as the two seniors on the team. They were thanked for all of the hard work and dedication they have put into the program.

Nov. 15 is an early release day. Buses will run at 12:30 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break is Nov. 25-29.

Dumpsters Available 

The city of Carmine will have dumpsters at City Hall on Nov. 15 and 16. On Saturday, the hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

You must be a resident of Carmine with proof of residency and must be able to load and unload it yourself.

Cost for a truck load is $25 and for a trailer load is $50.

Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste (such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides), refrigerators, and E-waste which includes computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals.

Mayer Cemetery Association 

The Mayer Cemetery Association annual meeting will be this Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., at the Round Top Real Estate office at 101 Main St. in Round Top.

Reports will be given on cemetery needs such as mowing and upkeep funds, Mayer Cemetery Association Bylaws revisions, the annual election of officers, and other items. All are welcome to attend.

Central Texas Food Bank The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10-11 a.m. It is located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

Food distribution will be drive-thru method. Volunteers will distribute and load the pre-boxed food into each vehicle as the client drives through the line. Clients need to clean out the back seats, trunks, and truck beds to make room for the boxed food.

All Saints Sunday 

All Saints Sunday was observed on both Nov. 2 and 3 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, remembering those who have passed away since the last All Saints Sunday.

Those remembered included William T. (Sonny) Marth, Roger Sommerfeld, Ruth Schoenemann, Matthew Kelley, LaVerne Kunkel, Kim Lewis, Rev. William (Bill) Derrick, and Gladys Roemer.

40th Annual Christmas Fest The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 40th annual Christmas Fest at the Carmine Hall on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

A beef stew and a hamburger meal will be served from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

RT-C elementary students will present a musical program at 1:30 p.m.

Attractions include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, a Polar Express train ride, vendors, and a craft contest. For vendor information and booth rental, contact Kasey at (979) 533-2904.

For the craft contest, children in grades Pre-K through 8th are invited to create a craft using a Christmas theme. The only restrictions are no food and it must be no bigger than 14” x 14”. Height doesn’t matter. Put your name, age, and phone number with the craft. Great prizes will be given for various age groups. For more information including when and where to turn them in, call or text (979) 451-1507. Latest date to turn them in is Saturday, Nov. 30 by noon at the Carmine Hall.

The Carmine Lions Club will draw for their prize of a Yeti cooler on wheels loaded with prizes inside.

Christmas Craft Market Ledbetter is having its Christmas Craft Market on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center, located one block off of Hwy 290 at 301 W. Labadie St.

Handmade crafts and goodies, made by local artists, such as Christmas tags, ornaments, decorations, wreaths, tote bags, jellies, preserves and relishes, handmade jewelry, woodcrafts, crosses, and much more will be available for sale.

Burn Ban 

A burn ban remains in effect for Fayette County.

MLLC News 

Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the twenty-sixth Sunday after Pentecost, is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School Christmas program rehearsal is Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday Worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m.

Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Recycling Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

They accept clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
