Ledbetter 75th Fireman’s Feast Saturday

The Ledbetter Fireman’s Feast will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center this Saturday, Oct. 8. Serving of a fried chicken dinner begins at 5 p.m. for dine-in or carry-out. Bingo games will be from 4-6 p.m. A live auction starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be a country store, with funds from it matched by the Round Top Herman Sons Lodge No. 151. Ledbetter Homemakers Club will sell desserts.

All proceeds benefit the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. It is their 75th anniversary.

Carmine Night Out

Carmine Night Out will be held this Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Carmine Fire Station beginning at 6 p.m. Come meet your neighbors, hear dignitaries speak, and get answers to your questions. There will be free hot dogs, drinks, desserts, kid’s finger printing, and door prizes for all ages. Kids of all ages will have fun racing in the emergency drill relays.

The event is sponsored by Carmine Chamber of Commerce, Carmine Volunteer Fire Dept. and Carmine Lions Club.

The Flag Retirement Ceremony is sponsored by the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 and the RT-C 4-H Club. For more information, call or text (979) 451-1507.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine FFA members Judson Gold, Hunter Schobel, and Rylan Stork attended the Welding Competition at the Waller County Fair along with 470 other contestants. Hunter Schobel received a Level 1 Welder Certification. Jr. High and High School varsity volleyball teams host Waelder Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. Varsity hosts McDade Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.

Oct. 10 will be a student holiday.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

The burn ban has been reinstated for Fayette County.

MLLC Harvest Festival

Martin Luther Lutheran Church will sponsor the 2022 Harvest Festival on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Carmine Hall. A worship service featuring polka style worship music will be led by the Praise Team at 9:30 a.m. in the upper part of the hall. Confirmation classes from years ending in 2 and 7 will be recognized. A chicken fried pork steak dinner will be served. Tickets will be $15 per plate. There will also be a drawing with 20 items. Those tickets will be $20 each or 3 for $50. Call the office Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at (979) 278-3388 for more information. The regular Saturday evening church service at 6 p.m. will be held at the church.

RT-C Fall Festival

RT-C Parents’ Club is sponsoring the Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the RT-C Elementary School from 5-8 p.m. They are taking pre-orders for Fresh Fajita plates for $15 and Hot Dogs for $3. Dumpster Available

The City of Carmine will have a dumpster for Carmine residents Nov. 12-13 from 8-4 p.m. at Carmine City Hall, 260 Luther Lane. Truck loads will be charged $15 and trailer loads will be $25. Accepted are larger household items. Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides, refrigerators, and E-waste such as computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals. You must bring proof of residency. For more information call City Hall at (979) 278-3273.

MLLC News

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15 – 6:15 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion observing the Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The Noisy Offering will be collected for Water to Thrive. The service is also on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m. Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
