Muldoon native Lane Rightmer ran in the Chevron Houston Marathon. She has been training for months in anticipation of competing in a full marathon. She has put in miles and miles just to prepare to try and run this race. Lane did great for her first marathon and finished where many did not.

Lane has been competing in some half marathons and this was the one she chose to step up and run the extra miles. Lane comes from a track and field family with her dad and brother both being on the Baylor track team competing in the pole vault.

Supporting Lane race day was her mom, Jennifer Rightmer. Jennifer made sure everything was just right so Lane could concentrate on her race, so Lane received VIP care from her mom. Now that the Houston race is behind her Lane can take a break prior to looking for the next race to compete in.

Community Center

The Muldoon Community Center is working on gearing up for 2023. They are making plans for pot luck dinners throughout the upcoming year. They have set the second weekend of the month for a time to gather and enjoy each other’s company. This will be a great way for the community to gather and get to know each other and just visit.

The potlucks will be a themed dinner starting off with Saturday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. with a Sweethearts and Lonely Hearts themed dinner. Bring your best dish to show off and share. This will be a wonderful way to come out enjoy your neighbors’ company, maybe meet a few new people in the area and just enjoy an evening out. More details will be coming.

Rain

Last Wednesday Muldoon saw some rain with the passing front that cooled down the mornings. The area got two tenths in a short time, which was very much welcomed to help bring on the winter/early spring grasses. Temperatures have cooled off in the mornings making early morning walks very pleasant.

There are some in the area that are not feeling their best. Covid, sinus infections, allergies along with colds and flu are making the rounds. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly ones and make sure they are doing ok and do not need a little help. We have to pull together as a community and take care of each other. It’s the small things that make a small community bond together.

Out and About

Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak enjoyed a visit from Devon’s granddaughter and family, Annie, Cody and their son Luke Zimmerhanzel came in from Wharton to spend the weekend enjoying the joys of country life with family.
