La Grange ISD teachers Laurie Stork, left, and Christopher Cooper, right were presented Mirabeau B. Lamar Medals for outstanding achievement in public education. Stork, the LHS senior Enlish teacher, is retiring this year after 34 years of teaching. Cooper, the director of LGISD bands, has led the marching band to back-to-back state appearances. The award is named after Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second President of the Republic of Texas. Because of his passionate support for public schools, Lamar is widely known as the “Father of Texas Education.” The award was presented by Jeff Messer of the LaFayette Lodge, center. The LaFayette Masonic Lodge has identified food insecurity as one local issue they want to target helping. With that in mind, they made a donation to the AMEN Food Pantry, represented by volunteers Susan Schultz, left, and MaryLou McElroy, right. The award was presented by Jeff Messer of the LaFayette Lodge, center. Dr. Jeremy Finch, right, was presented The Community Builder Award for his work coordinating the La Grange Feed The Need, which distributes food and fellowship downtown every Monday. The award honors individuals who—through quiet service, civic leadership, or humanitarian acts—embody Masonic values such as charity, integrity, and devotion to their community without expecting recognition. The award was presented by Jeff Messer of the LaFayette Lodge. Two students from La Grange High School were presented with Honesty and Integrity Awards at the ceremony. Diamond McKenzie, left, and Deacon Wick, right, were nominated by teachers at the school. The award specifically honors students who demonstrate strong moral character, truthfulness, dependability, and ethical behavior in their schools and communities. The award was presented by Jeff Messer of the LaFayette Lodge, center.
