Buildings, like people, have stories to tell about their community and the nation’s past. Take a step back in time when you walk into the 1907 Hermes Building, located on the Historic Courthouse Square in La Grange.

The Hermes building holds the distinction of being the only building on the Square that was operated under the same family name for more than 100 years. Enjoy the nostalgia of walking through architecture and hardware from the original venue, while finding a treasure to take home.

La Grange Vintage Collectibles & Antiques of Texas is owned by four friends, Tina and David Metting, Laura Tolbirt, Dave Oldham, who love history and finding treasures for others to enjoy. This building is the perfect place for them to showcase a wide variety of vinyl records, sports cards, diecast cars, rare coins and antiques. They are eager for you to visit, take a step back in time and help write their story in the landmark building 116 years later. Chapter One begins Friday, March 31, 2023 with the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting, to be held at the shop, located at 148 N. Washington Street, La Grange, Texas.

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Ribbon Cutting at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 31, followed immediately by a Grand Opening Toast & Social Hour hosted by La Grange Vintage Collectibles & Antiques. The Social Hour will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

On Saturday, April 1 participating stores on the square will kick-off a weeklong Treasure Hunt. Festivities will run from Saturday, April 1 through Saturday, April 8.

There will be one prize awarded each day to one lucky customer. The winning prize will be announced each day on La Grange Vintage Collectibles & Antiques of Texas’ Facebook page.
