La Grange Senior Citizens Meet, New Officers Elected
The La Grange Senior Citizens Activity Group, Inc. held their meeting/luncheon on Thursday, May 5 at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. President Glenn Altwein welcomed the group and Board Member Audrey Huenefeld had a prayer.
The group then pledged allegiance to the American and Texas flags. Secretary Mannie Fritsch-Schmid read the minutes of the previous meeting. Treasurer Marilyn Strmiska gave the treasurer’s report.
New board members elected were Doris Lidiak, Helen Oestreich, Marceil Presridge, Liz Tannler, and Mary Vasek. Allison Mackenzie, Director of the Fayette Public Library, Museum and Archives and Roxanne Johnson were speakers. A drawing was held with cash prizes and an anonymous donor gave gift bags to 10 female members in recognition of Mother’s Day.
Immediately after the general meeting, the board met. Election of officers was held with John Rice elected as president, Norma Adams as vicepresident, Helen Oestreich as secretary, and Marilyn Strmiska was re-elected as treasurer.
The board decided to plan a trip to Washington on the Brazos for the first week in October with lunch in Brenham and then dessert at Blue Bell Creamery.
The next board meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreational Center and the next general meeting/luncheon will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a speaker.
