    La Grange Senior Citizens Make Donation to Habitat

The La Grange Senior Citizens Activity Center, Inc. held their fall meeting/luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 3 at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. President John Rice welcomed the group and board member Audrey Huenefeld, who gave an inspiring prayer. The group then pledged allegiance to the American and Texas flags led by Glenn Altwein. Secretary Helen Oestreich read the minutes of previous meetings and Treasurer Marilyn Strmiska gave the treasurer’s report. Phil Oestreich reported 7 members of the group enjoyed a tour of Washington on the Brazos and then had lunch in Brenham on Oct. 6. Cash door prizes were handed out to 10 lucky winners.

The Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area and the Capital Area Aging & Disability Resource Center presented an informational program, handing out resources advocating for and supporting the health, safety and well being of aging adults. Immediately after the lunch, the Board held a quick meeting.

The next Board meeting will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreational Center and the next general meeting/luncheon will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a speaker. A day trip for next spring is being planned. The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center is for any individual, 50 years of age or over, living in La Grange and surrounding communities. This group was incorporated in 1991 to provide educational programs, activities and services based on health, recreation, social and gerontological interest and needs of senior citizens. The group provides programs, services, experiences and opportunities for senior citizens which enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement in programs and activities in order that they may live more peacefully, happily and usefully.
