La Grange ISD Library Reconsideration Committee is Looking for Members

The LGISD is looking for members for its library book reconsideration committee.

The committee shall include the following members:

• A non-voting committee moderator from the District;

• A campus administrator;

• A District professional who is knowledgeable about curriculum and instruction, reading materials, or online resources (including websites), as appropriate;

• Campus librarian and/or campus educator;

• Three parents of currently enrolled District students; and

• One community member who resides in the District. The District shall solicit parent committee members at the start of each school year to be randomly drawn and assigned to the committee. Names of the committee members shall remain confidential.

Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Selected committee members will be notified by Friday, February 9, 2024. Please be aware the commitment of this committee will include:

• reading challenged books in their entirety

• meetings and discussions Note that dependent upon the number of books that are challenged, this could be a considerable amount of time.

This committee will begin convening in Spring 2024.
