La Grange City Council Talks Subdivisions, 2024 Holidays
The La Grange City Council met Monday night, Oct. 23, for a brisk 19-minute meeting. Among the eight items on the agenda, Council approved two property divisions.
Matt and Jennifer Harper, owners of a large lot at 293 S. College St., asked permission to subdivide their nearly one-acre property into three new tracts. An existing home sits on one of the tracts. Matt Harper told the Council he intends to remodel that home. An old house currently sits on the property line dividing two of the new tracts. Harper said he intends to demolish that structure. Harper said he plans to build new homes on those two lots. All three of the new tracts meet the City’s requirements for lot size. Council unanimously approved the request.
Richard Dunk petitioned the Council for preliminary approval to subdivide a 4.5 acre tract he owns on Old Plum Highway. A small portion of the property lies within the City, and the rest of it lies within the City’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). Dunk plans to divide the property into four separate lots, each about 1.1 acres, which exceeds the City’s minimum lot size requirements. Council unanimously approved the request.
The City Council also approved an updated agreement with La Grange I.S.D. for school resource officers (SROs). The La Grange Police Department provides two officers to serve as SROs at the school during the school year. The school reimburses the City for the officers’ pay while assigned at the school.
In other business, the Council approved the City’s 2024 holiday schedule. The schedule matches Fayette County’s holiday schedule. The 2024 City holidays will be as follows:
