La Grange Aids Maui Disaster Recovery

With vivid memories of the help La Grange got following Hurricane Harvey, the Rotary Club of La Grange quickly organized a fundraiser to assist recovery from the devastating wildfires in Maui. A tropical themed happy hour at Mac’s Daqs on Aug. 22 resulted in $2,500 going to Rotary District 5000 in Hawaii. Event coordinator Regina Keilers, club president Kyle Hartmann and club treasurer Larry Jackson show the amount initially being sent. Hartmann said additional contributions are being received and will be forwarded to Hawaii. In addition to the Maui effort, the La Grange Rotarians donated $1,000 last month to relief efforts in Matador, Texas, where a tornado killed four and injured a dozen more in June.
