KJZT Society No. 31 of La Grange Meets May 20

On May 20, the second quarterly social meeting of Society No. 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, KJZT Family Life was held at 4:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room.

President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers, especially remembering a member who passed away on April 29, Bernice Guettler.

Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited.

Mayor of La Grange Jan Dockery was introduced; and she signed the KJZT Family Life promoted Flag Day Proclamation that proclaims patriotism by celebrating and honoring June 14 as National Flag Day. Then she was guest speaker and updated members about happenings in the city of La Grange.

The meeting continued with reading of the February 19, 2024, minutes being dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills being approved for payment.

Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read several thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included KJZT Family Fun Day will be June 9, at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan; 51 scholarships will be awarded for 2024, and Tracey Gearson has been appointed State Director for District I and II.

KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Nicole Ramirez showed four sympathies and one birthday by Society No. 31, and 15 enrollments by individuals. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.

Unfinished business: Kothmann gave a full report on the Sacred Heart Spring Festival plant wheel booth. Members attended the annual feast day Mass on March 9 at Sacred Heart Church. Junior division raffle tickets had been mailed in by deadline.

The District V Annual Social will be hosted by Society No. 31 on July 28, 2024. Registration time will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a catered meal at noon, and the program will follow.

New Business: Motion carried to donate towards Tshirts for the June 10-13 Vacation Bible School at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange. Society No. 31 will begin remembering members with KJZT CEF’s when they get married and upon the birth of a baby.

District V State Director Joy Kovar said the State Office in Austin is being remodeled; and to contact her with any insurance or annuity questions.

Attendance prize was won by Eilert. The meeting closed with the Memorare prayer.
