KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Meets

On Feb. 20, the first quarterly meeting of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers including a Presidents Day prayer, and pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.

Reading of the Nov. 14, 2022 meeting minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, bills were approved for payment, and thank you cards were read.

Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read correspondence from the KJZT State Office. KJZT Family Fun Day will be June 11 at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan. KJZT Junior Division is having their annual raffle. There is a 2023 KJZT Family Life Sales Contest.

KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Joy Kovar showed five sympathies by Society No. 31, and twentyone enrollments by individuals. Two cheer cards were sent. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.

Unfinished business: during the recent Catholic Schools week, Society No. 31 presented backpack tags to all the students and goodie bags to teachers and staff at Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange.

New business: the annual feast day Mass for Society no. 31 will be Saturday, March 11 at the 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Flag Day proclamation signing for the Marshall Program with a possible speaker at the May 15 meeting was discussed. The Sacred Heart School Spring Festival will be April 2 and Society No. 31 will sponsor the plant wheel game.

Attendance prize was won by Phyllis Chavarria and the meeting closed with the Memorare prayer.
