The 113th Anniversary of St. Frances of Rome Society No. 31 KZT Family Life of La Grange takes place in November, and on Monday, Nov. 14, the annual social and meeting was held at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange beginning at 4:30 p.m. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers for members especially remembering Willa Mae Musgrove who passed away since the last meeting.

Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the August 15th minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and a bill was approved for payment.

Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read correspondence from KJZT State Office. Gillian Marek has been promoted to the position of Insurance Service Manager. The State Board has decided again to ask each active Society to nominate up to four different Catholic Schools to receive a $50 donation (each) from KJZT Family Life.

KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Joy Kovar showed one special birthday, one sympathy, and one anniversary by Society #31, and twenty-one enrollments by individuals. Also, one cheer card was sent. The deceased member was remembered with a Mass intention. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.

Unfinished business, Treasurer Eilert was able to attend the District V officer planning meeting on Sept. 24 at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia that was hosted by District V State Director Joy Kovar.

New business discussed was the State Christmas gifts for seminarians, Catholic School donation form, participation in Catholic Schools Week to be held Jan. 29 – Feb. 4, sending a welcome card to new KJZT State Chaplain Fr. Jared Cook, and election of 2023 Society No. 31 officers with current officers being re-elected.

District IV and V State Director Joy Kovar talked about criteria for platinum status 2023, nativity cards for the Advent season, and the officer meeting she hosted.

Attendance prize was won by Roy Kovar and the meeting closed with the Memorare Prayer and then the annual supper was enjoyed. All in attendance received a gift of appreciation.
