KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Holds Social
On Aug. 5, the third quarterly social of Society No. 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, KJZT Family Life was held at 4:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers and pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.
Reading of the May 20 minutes were dispensed, treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read thank you cards, and then correspondence from the KJZT State Office that included a reminder that the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patroness of the KJZT fraternal, is Aug. 15.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report was given by Vice President Nicole Ramirez and showed two special birthdays, one new mother, and three sympathies by Society No. 31, and eleven enrollments by individuals. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business: The Annual District V Social hosted by Society #31 recap was given. Sixty-one members and guests were in attendance on Sunday, July 28, at the Sacred Heart Msgr. Harry Center that was decorated with a red, white, and blue theme. Acatered meal was served, fifty-and seventyfive- year pins were presented, and a Memorial was held. Sharing brief information about the KJZT were state dignitaries Catherine Sylvester, President/ CEO; Deborah Kaspar, Field Agent; District V Director Joy Kovar; and Anne Wick, Junior Coordinator. Fr. Chris Smith gave the closing prayer and then lots of fun door prizes were distributed. Local Society No. 31 officers and members helped out in many ways to make the event memorable.
Donations are coming in for the Bake-Less Bake Sale. The Vacation Bible School T-shirts that Society No. 31 helped sponsor were cute. Motion carried to make a monetary donation to AMEN Food Pantry with matching funds from the State Office.
New business: The Annual Social for the Society will be Thursday, Nov. 7 beginning at 4 p.m.at Sealand in La Grange.
Discussed and approved were clergy Christmas presents for 2024, the Community project of a Thanksgiving Basket for the Family Crisis Center, and People Helping People projects for 2025, namely Catholic Schools Week at the end of January and Sacred Heart School Spring Festival plant wheel booth on Palm Sunday, Attendance prize was won by Nicole Ramirez and the meeting closed with the Memorare Prayer.
