KJZT Family Life Society 31 Holds Annual Social, Meeting
The 114th Anniversary of St. Frances of Rome, Society No. 31 KZT Family Life of La Grange takes place in November, and on Monday, Nov. 13 the annual social and meeting was held at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange beginning at 4 p.m. President Elizabeth Kallus called the brief meeting to order and led opening prayers for living and deceased members especially remembering Jackie Muzny who passed away since the last meeting. Also remembered were all Veterans especially the service men and women in active duty.
Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the August 21st minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and a bill was approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included information that the State Board has decided again to ask each active Society to nominate up to four different Catholic Schools to receive a $50.00 donation from KJZT Family Life.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Joy Kovar showed one special birthday, three sympathy, one perpetual enrollment, and fourteen enrollments by individuals. Also, two cheer cards were sent. The deceased member was remembered with a Mass intention. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business included the Society No. 31 fundraiser, Christmas presents for clergy, Catholic Schools Week 2024, Sacred Heart Spring Festival March 24, 2024, Community project Thanksgiving food basket for the Family Crisis Center, and the District V Annual Social to be hosted by Society No. 31 will be held July 28, 2024.
New business was the State Christmas gifts for seminarians, Catholic School donation form, and election of 2024 Society No. 31 officers that was followed by the installation of new officers, President Elizabeth Kallus, Vice President Nicole Ramirez, Secretary Marilyn Kothmann, and Treasurer Barbara Eilert.
District IV and V State Director Joy Kovar informed members that the KJZT continues to be a very strong fraternal. She also gave an update on the remodeling of the State office in Austin.
Attendance prize was won by Rose Recek and the meeting closed with the Memorare Prayer and the Prayer before the Meal; and then the annual social was enjoyed. All in attendance received a gift of appreciation.
