    Increase in Traffic Around Muldoon

Traffic in the Muldoon area has changed due to the bridge closure on FM 154 South of Muldoon between Parker Road and Old Smithville Road. Many, including 18 wheelers, have taken to traveling the county roads to bypass the construction/road closure. Be sure and be very careful if you choose to travel the county roads. They are smaller and are not built for all the traffic that is starting to travel over them.

TxDOT has set up signage for the detours. They are sending traffic either east or west on FM 2237 to FM 609 or Hwy. 95 to travel on to the Flatonia area. If you are planning a trip to Flatonia from the Muldoon area, make sure to add extra time in and lots of patience.

Weather

Wednesday saw another quick weather event come through the area. The sky got very dark and strong winds kicked up in front of a strong storm system. The area received around a half inch of rain and some much cooler temperatures.

Out and About

Kathy Chlumsky made a quick visit to Austin for her granddaughter, Olivia Williams’ hip hop dance recital on Saturday. Olivia is becoming quite the dancer, and her grandmother is very proud of her.

On a recent Sunday a few hearty souls including Ron and Pam Knotts attended the annual Memorial Service at Shiloh Cemetery north of Hallettsville. A sudden crazy rainstorm almost washed away the whole gathering, but a small group met in the old schoolhouse to remember relatives gone on to glory. Pam’s brother, Ray Langenberg, made it in from Austin, and the rainy afternoon made for a great time to catch up on family news. The event always includes a short business meeting for the cemetery association and a fellowship time with lots of desserts. A great annual tradition.

Martin and Nancy Cherry were thrilled to have their daughter Dr. Anne Marie Cherry come in to check on them on her break between spring and summer semesters. Anne Marie slipped in from Columbus, Georgia where she is an assistant professor of horn at Schwob School of Music at Columbus University.
