Hunger to Compete in Texas High School Rodeo State Finals

Jordyn Hunger, a junior at Fayetteville High School, will compete next week on her horse 2 Pac, at the Texas High School Rodeo State Finals in Abilene. Jordyn competes in breakaway and team roping at her region rodeos.

After breaking her knee cap at her first high school rodeo and having knee surgery in October, she was not able to compete for two region rodeos. She came back in January to continue her rodeo season and ended the season placing in the top 10 of her region, out of over 50+ tough competitors. This qualified Jordyn to attend and compete at the Texas High School Rodeo Association Finals.

Only the top 10 out of their region are able to compete at the finals.

Jordyn is the daughter of Shawn and Amanda Hunger of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Greg and Deby Hunger of Ellinger, and Brian and the late Patsy Fowler of La Grange.

Ellinger Tomato Festival was a successful event. A full weekend of festivities were held and enjoyed by all.

Shared Lutheran Ministry A “Hamburger Throwdown” will be held in conjunction with a joint worship at St. John’s Lutheran in Rutersville on Sunday, July 2 starting at 10 a.m. with worship. Make plans to attend worship and then taste burgers from all 4 congregations. Vote for the best burger by contributing a dollar or two in the respective church jar. The jar with the most money will win the people’s choice award. All donations will go to Feed the Need. All are welcome to worship and taste test the burgers.

An event benefiting Lutherhill will be held July 29. This event is called “Dancing Under the Stars” and will have a meal and dance. More details to come. Save the date.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

77th Annual Stork Reunion The 77th annual Phillip Peter Stork reunion will be held on Sunday, June 4 at the Ledbetter Community Center (301 West Labadie St., Ledbetter.) The hall will open at 9 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12 p.m. A BBQ meal is planned and free will donations are accepted to cover the costs. Please bring a dessert and silent/live auction item.
