Hostyn Roadside Park Closed

The roadside park on US 77 near the Hostyn cutoff has been closed until further notice, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity had “adopted” the park for volunteer cleanup through TxDOT’s Adopt-AHighway program in 2020. Kenny Couch, executive director of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity, told the Record this week he’s been seeking assistance from other groups or volunteers to keep up with the work. However, Couch said he hasn’t found anyone to help.

“They are no longer able to continue in the program so that park has been closed until further notice,” said Tx-DOT spokesperson Lucea’n Kuykendall.

TxDOT has placed several large piles of dirt at the entrances to keep anyone from entering.
