Holy Cross Youth Group to Host Annual Valentine’s Dinner

The Youth Group at Holy Cross will host their Annual Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15. The fellowship hall will be transformed into “Cupid’s Café” where an enjoyable meal will be served by the amazing youth. The menu includes mocktails, charcuterie-on-a-stick, hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, garden salad and dessert. Seating is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and available from any youth member or the church office until Feb. 10. Call (979) 2423333 to purchase tickets for this event.
Scholarship Fundraiser The Wendish Society will have its Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Drive-Thru meal on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. The menu will consist of grilled pork steaks, noodles, corn, green beans, pickles, and a side of Wendish Bird Wedding Soup. Pickup will be 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
All proceeds benefit the TWHS Scholarship Program. Cost is $15, presale only by Jan. 21. Tickets may be purchased by calling the museum at (979) 366-2441 or email Museum@texaswendish.org.
South Lee County VFD The South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department meeting and election of officers will be held Sunday, Jan. 19 at the fire station in Northrup. Doors open at 5 p.m. Meeting will be at 6 p.m. Refreshments and a chili supper will be provided, all area residents are encouraged to attend.
Lutheran Writers Round Up The Lutheran Writers Round Up will be held at Faith Lutheran High School on Friday, Jan. 31. This event is open to everyone, the authors/presenters include: Sarah Baughman, Christina Hergenrader, Ruth Meyer, Texas District President Rev. Michael Newman, Martha Van Buskirk and Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. More details coming soon.
Annual PTLS Chili Supper
St. Paul Lutheran School in Serbin will be having their Annual PTLS Chili Supper and Live Auction on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Cook-Off Judging and Silent Auction will be held 4-5:30 p.m. Live Auction will be at 5:30 p.m. Chili/Hot Dog Supper will be served at 5 p.m. Tickets are available until Jan. 22 from the school office at (979) 366-2218. If you would like to enter the Chili Cook-Off or be a sponsor for this event, as an individual or business, please call the school office.
Knox Scholarship Fund
The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund will hold a BBQ pulled pork taco meal on Monday, Jan. 20. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased by contacting Cyndy Zoch at (979) 9663166. There are only a few tickets remaining.
All proceeds will be used to award a scholarship to an 8th grade student attending Faith Lutheran High School. There will also be a bake sale to go along with the taco meal set up at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds.
Sewing Circle
The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (This is around the back side of the church.) The quilts they make benefit Orphan Grain Train, Lutheran World Relief, and various Volunteer Fire Department area fundraisers. They average 80-100 quilts a year. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group in cutting, arranging, sewing as assembling/tying quilts. Game Day at Holy Cross The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday Feb. 20 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.
Central Texas Food Truck The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10-11 a.m., drive through only. Volunteers are always welcome.
Wednesday Night Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is studying 2nd Kings. New members are always welcome. If you are interested in participating, please contact Cyndy Zoch to receive a study guide. Her contact email is: cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
GEMS (Girls Embracing Mission Service) will meet on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. They will be planning upcoming activities, doing a Winter themed craft, sharing refreshments and enjoying fellowship time.

Faith Lutheran High School If you are interested in receiving enrollment information, please contact the school at (979) 242-2889 or visit their website at: www.flhstx.org. Any New student who registers for FLHS prior to Friday, March 7 will only pay $100 registration fee.
Shadow Days are a great opportunity for prospective students to experience what FLHS is all about. If you have an 8th grade student, call the high school to schedule a shadow day for your child.
FLHS has a Tuition Scholarship Program available and every family that applies will receive some assistance. Contact the school for more information/ application.
The Spring Raffle is just around the corner. The Board of Directors is currently looking for valuable items or monetary donations to be used in the raffle. Please contact Nikki Kueck if you have something to donate.
