Holy Cross Outreach Committee Installs a Little Free Library

The Holy Cross Outreach Committee has installed a Little Free Library under the awning of the Fellowship Hall Entrance of the church. This is a great way for everyone to share books and puzzles. Leave any books you have read and take any books left by others. It is open to everyone in the Warda area. Help share the news with your friends and neighbors in the area.

Good Friday Bake Sale 

Faith Lutheran High School will be hosting their Annual Good Friday Bake Sale on April 18 at the Classic Bank Parking Lot in Giddings. Lots of fabulous items will be available starting at 8 a.m. till noon (or until sold out.) Donations of baked good are appreciated and can be dropped off in advance at the high school on April 16-17, at Medack and Oltmann in Giddings or call (979) 242-2889 to make other arrangements.

Casserole Sale 

Faith Lutheran High School is selling chicken spaghetti casseroles. They will be available for pick up at Warda, Serbin or Giddings on Monday, April 15. Pre-order by Monday, March 31. A 9 x 13 is $35 and an 8 x 8 is $20. Order early as there are a limited amount available. Call the church office at (979) 2423333 to place your order.

Warda Local Farm Bureau 

The Warda Local Farm Bureau will have its April 17 meeting at 7 p.m. at 610 Giese Lane. Snacks are welcome, drinks will be provided.

Amanda Knox Scholarship 

Amanda Knox Scholarship Fund Raffle tickets are now on sale. They will be raffling off two halves of an Angus/Wagyu calf, including processing. Only 100 tickets will be sold and two tickets will be drawn. Tickets are $100 each. Proceeds benefit the Amanda Knox Scholarship Fund and will be used to pay tuition for an incoming Faith Lutheran High School student. Drawing will be held April 27 with processing for the calf set for the end of May. Contact the church office for tickets at (979) 242-3333.

Applications are now being accepted for an academicbased scholarship from the Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will pay for the full tuition for an incoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2025. Applications are due May 1, 2025 and are available from FLHS or from Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Grant for Land Owners 

The Texas A&M Forest Service is offering a grant program to Fayette County Land Owners as a part of removing wooded areas at high risk of wildfires. The application period is from April 1-30. There are three methods to apply for with financial reimbursement. Visit tfsweb.tamu.edu/Mechgrant. 

Sewing Circle

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church.) No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 2423333 if you have any questions. 

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, April 17 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group meets at 11:30. They are studying the book of Galatians.

Midweek Lent Services will be held each Wednesday through April 9 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
