Holy Cross Hosting Trunk Puzzle Swap

If you like to do jigsaw puzzles, you may want to attend the new Trunk Puzzle Swap that will be held on Sunday afternoon Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. in the church parking lot at Holy Cross 600 FM 1482 Warda.
This event is organized under the Free Jigsaw Puzzle Swap Central Texas Group and hosted by the Outreach Group of Holy Cross. If you’ve never been to a puzzle swap, it’s very simple. Bring your puzzles with boxes taped shut or pieces sealed in zip lock bags, complete puzzles are preferred, if any pieces are missing, please clearly note this on the front of the box.
Arrive approx. 15 minutes early, lay your puzzles out in your trunk, on the ground or in the back of your hatchback. You can walk around and look at other puzzles but no swapping till the start time.
At 4 p.m. the host will announce the start and you simply walk around and take puzzles that you like. It’s a great way to share puzzles with other puzzlers.
Bluff Creek Blowout
Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will hold The Bluff Creek Blowout on Oct. 14-15. This is a 24-hour Terra Firma racing event that can be done solo or on a team of up to 10 people. Neighbors Night Out in Warda will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 beginning at 4 p.m. at the picnic grounds. Everyone in the Warda area is invited to attend. Planned speakers include TxDOT, information on local oil drilling and activity and Q & A on the state of St. Mark’s Hospital. Lutheran Early Response Team Everyone is invited to attend an informational meeting/ luncheon on Sunday October 8 at Holy Cross in Warda on LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team). This is to learn more about the possibility of forming a network of volunteers trained to respond in times of disaster. Speaker Rev. Michael Meyer will present the program. Lunch will be served at noon, followed at 12:30 p.m. by the informational meeting. Sewing Circle
The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church.) You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew and tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship. Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
Sunday, Oct. 1 is LWML Sunday, the Ladies Aid group will be recognized.
Sunday, Oct. 8 is Mission Sunday and our guest Preacher will be Rev. Michael Meyer, LCMS Managing Director for Congregations and Districts.

Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Worship Services Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Faith Lutheran High School’s Annual Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday October 28, New this year will be the Battle of the Vines, in addition to the Battle of the Brewboth are home brew competitions, so start planning your brews now. Returning will be the traditional German meal of brats, noodles, green beans, potato salad, kraut, bread and coffee cake. A domino tournament, cornhole tournament, music and kids games are also planned. Meal tickets are now available for $15 each and are pre-sale only. The meal will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Cross picnic grounds. Contact the church office or call (979) 242-2889 for tickets.
