Holy Cross Game Day July 18, Annual Picnic Set Sept. 1

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday, July 18, from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo, dominoes and board games are offered. More details coming soon.

The annual Holy Cross Lutheran Church picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 1 at the picnic grounds. Make plans to attend this fun day.

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Camp Lone Star Picnic 

Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will have their annual picnic on Sunday July 28. The day will start with special music at 10:30 a.m. An outdoor worship service at 11 a.m. with the installation of Rev. Ryan Neuhaus as the new CEO, a barbecue meal at noon and the benefit auction from 1-3 p.m. are just some of the activities planned for the day. The swimming pool will also be open from 1-2:30 p.m. for those wanting to enjoy the cool water. Each year Camp Lone Star serves over 11,000 individuals through retreats, outdoor education and of course their summer camp ministry. This is a great event and a wonderful opportunity to show support for the camp and help it continue the ministry into the future.

Community Baseball 

There is not a game scheduled for July 14. Last week Serbin beat Flatonia 4-3.

Tejas Camp & Retreat 

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center has already welcomed over 3,100 kids and students from five amazing congregations, and by summers end that number will climb to over 6,500 guests from 13 different camp sessions. They have over 40 summer staff that work together with a full-time team.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church). You do not have to be a chuch member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship. 

Sympathy Extended

Sympathy to the family and friends of Nellie McBride who was called to her heavenly home on July 1. A graveside service will be held in Littlefield.

Faith Lutheran High School Save the date for Faith Lutheran High Schools annual Octoberfest on Saturday. Oct. 26. The “Battle of the Vines” and “Battle of the Brew” are back. Start planning your brews now. There will be traditional German food, domino tournament, auction, cornhole tournament, music, kids games, fellowship and lots of fun.

July office hours will be Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

On Sunday, July 21 the LCMS congregations in the area will collect a door offering for Faith Lutheran High School to help them raise the remaining funds necessary to purchase a passenger van. Please consider helping with this special offering. Check can be made out to Faith Lutheran High School and marked “van” you can also bring a check by the church or school office.
