Herb Society of America Pioneer Unit’s Herbal Forum March 18

The most ubiquitous herb in America has to be parsley. But did you know that this most common herb is beneficial in controlling blood pressure and protecting bones from osteoporosis, that it contains vitamins and antioxidants that protect vision? Learn all of this and much more at the Herb Society of America Pioneer Unit’s Herbal Forum, March 18 at the Round Top Festival Institute.

Wild About Parsley will also delve into the culinary side of the herb and its place in history and folklore. You’ll also learn about the preparation of tinctures, essences and other products from medicinal plants, from harvest to remedy. And you’ll learn about a program in Texas prisons that teaches inmates about horticulture, growing and using herbs and in the process, inspiring them to bring order and purpose to their lives.

“We have an exciting and eclectic program scheduled for the forum,” said Kathe Forrest, Chair of the Pioneer Unit. “In addition to the wonderful speakers, attendees will have lunch in the garden at Menke House and will meet the featured speakers and other experts for one-on-one discussions and educational displays. Our annual plant sale will be underway, beginning Friday, the 17, and they’ll also have time to explore the beautiful grounds and gardens at Festival Hill.”
