Herb Society of America Pioneer Unit Gathers

The Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America met on Oct. 12, at the Brenham Presbyterian Church.

Lisa Whittlesey, Senior Extension Program Specialist, International Junior Master Gardener Coordinator, and member of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service-Horticulture, spoke to the Pioneer Unit about “Getting Children Outside and in the Garden.” Her knowledge and enthusiasm were inspiring.

The November meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton. A meet and greet will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the program at 10 a.m. Becky McKay, owner of Giddings Nursery and Plant Center, will talk to the Unit about “Winterizing Your Garden and Cool Season Plants.” Cooler weather is the perfect time to plant herbs. All interested persons are invited to attend.

You can learn more about the Pioneer Unit and about upcoming meetings online at www.herbsocietypioneer.org or by following the Pioneer Unit on Facebook.
