Herb Society of America Meets In Brenham
In April, the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America met at the Brenham Presbyterian Church for a presentation by the Pioneer Unit Culinary Group, led by Belinda Weatherly, on the results of their year-long study of Herbs of the Mediterranean.
The group reviewed the history of the development of a cuisine in the countries that border on the Mediterranean Sea and focused on the food of Morocco. After the presentation and a brief meeting, we enjoyed a lunch featuring wonderful foods prepared by the Culinary Group as well as potluck contributions from the members of the Pioneer Unit.
In May, the Pioneer Unit meeting will be an evening meeting. Diana Sellers, a member of the Unit, will present “A Study in Lavender, an Overview.” This is our Unit’s first evening meeting, and we are hoping that many of you who might be busy during the day will attend, to learn what the Pioneer Unit is all about.
The unit is meeting at the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, on May 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be lavender treats to sample along with the information about this important herb.
You can learn more about the Pioneer Unit and about our upcoming meetings on our website www.herbsocietypioneer. org or by following the Pioneer Unit on Facebook.
