Helicopter Called in to Fight Fire Near Warda

Helicopters dumped water on the Whirling Pines Fire along Highway 77 in Warda Monday. Initial estimates of the fire’s size has been scaled back from 40 acres to 25 acres. No injuries have been reported. The fire started when a tree fell on a power line.

Central Texas Food Truck 

The Central Texas food truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran church on Saturday, March 21 from 10-11 a.m. Drive through only.

Camp Lone Star 

Camp Lone Star in La Grange Summer Camp registration, for campers age 5-18 is open. The Camp will also have a work weekend May 1517, as they prepare to welcome over 2,000 campers. Kids and adults are welcome to the work weekend, to help with some projects and enjoy a few fun camp activities. Register at www.camplonestar.org.

Tejas Camp & Retreat 

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center in Warda will have their Annual Serve Day on Saturday, March 28. This is an opportunity for you to join in and help with some projects.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Call the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, April 16 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Little Free Library 

Just a reminder Warda has a Little Free Library located at the covered entryway to Faith Lutheran High School. There are a variety of book and puzzles for all ages.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Mid-week Lenten Services will be held on March 25 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Palm Sunday and Confirmation will be March 29.
