Heger Earns Eagle Scout Award
Cole McGee Heger of Lockhart earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank advancement award presented in Boy Scouts of America. A member of Troop 109, chartered by First United Methodist Church, Lockhart, Heger is one of only six percent of all Scouts who attain the rank of Eagle Scout according to Scoutmaster Dennis Coleman.
Heger is the son of Ryan and Marla Heger of Lockhart and grandson of Nicky and Rosemary Heger of Holman. He is a graduating senior at Lockhart High School and will attend Texas A&M – College Station in the fall. Heger is active in FFA, Key Club and National Honor Society.
To earn the rank of Eagle, each Scout must complete 21 merit badges as well as demonstrate leadership, including successfully planning and completing a community service project. Heger’s community service project benefited Grace
Lutheran Preschool by designing, building, and installing a musical playground feature.
“I wanted to give back to Grace Lutheran Preschool as I attended there before I started kindergarten,” said Heger. “Installing a musical playground feature allows the children to learn about music while they play outdoors.”
Heger received the Eagle Award at his Court of Honor held Saturday, April 9, in Lockhart.
