Happy Music For Happy People Event Set May 19
Board members of The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum, located at 275 W. Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange, within the Czech Village, are excited to invite members and the public to the Second Annual “Happy Music for Happy People” Open House and Event. Renovations and upgrades continue, making this a good time to check them out.
The event is in conjunction with the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center’s (TCHCC) Slavnost “May Fest” celebration. The musuem will open on Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. and will conclude at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be available during the Open House.
The main attraction of the day will be The Msgr. Joseph M. Hybner Center and Exhibit. Father Joe was a generous contributor in all fundraising campaigns for the museum.
Reverend Monsignor Joseph was born Nov. 11, 1936 in Shiner. He was one of the 9 children born to Leo and Josephine (Kurtz) Hybner. He passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019. The exhibit features his family heritage and his path of ministry. Highlights of Msgr. Hybner’s involvement with Polka Music and Dance will be conducted by Willie Bohuslav and Msgr. Hybner’s nephew, Mark at 2 p.m.
To hear the complete Monsignor Joseph Hybner Polka Story, you must attend the event to enjoy humorous stories about him, his antics and his contribution to the preservation of polka music and dance.
Beginning at 2 p.m., various wines from regional vineyards and wineries will be served. The wine tastings for Lifetime Members is complimentary, Affiliate Members first container is complimentary; $3 for each re-fill after the first, the public is $5 per container.
