Hand Painted Apron Raises $1,500 at Houston Livestock Show And Rodeo

In a captivating display of artistic talent, the apron, titled “The Little Red Hen,” painted by Taylor Simmons of Ellinger, took the spotlight at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s All-Auction Committee meeting, garnering an impressive $1,500.

Diane Johnson of Schulenburg, a Lifetime-Director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, proudly acquired this remarkable piece. Johnson expressed admiration for both Taylor Simmons’ artistic creativity and her sister Jamee Simmons’ dedication, highlighting her participation in the HLSR School Art competition at La Grange ISD in her school days.

The funds raised were generously donated to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Auction Committee. The committee remains steadfast in its mission to nurture a thriving artistic community and provide resources for future generations to pursue higher education.
