Hamburger Throwdown Raises $800

The Shared Lutheran Ministry Hamburger Throwdown was held at St. John Lutheran in Rutersville on Sunday, July 2 after the joint worship. Almost $800 was collected from the popular vote for the best hamburger which was donated to Feed the Need. The Fayetteville group won the judges’ vote and the Warrenton group were the winners of the popular vote. Each church group had a variety of hamburgers fixings such as bacon, fried eggs, homemade pickles and boudin patties. Of course, the dessert table was full of sweets such as apple pie, cookies and ice cream. Feed the Need representatives spoke about the Monday night distribution of hamburgers on the courthouse square in La Grange. Not only does it fill the physical need of food, but the spiritual nourishment for the volunteers as well as the customers. All had a wonderful time under the oak trees at the Rutersville church.

Shared Lutheran Ministry VBS SLM VBS will be held in Rutersville the week of July 24 from 8:30-12 noon. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:30 a.m. Registration forms are due by July 9. Contact Laura Brugger at (979) 966-3455 for more information. Campers welcome from kindergarten to 5th grade based on the 20232024 school year. Volunteers needed as well.

Dancing Under the Stars On July 29, SLM and St. Paul in La Grange will host an event to benefit Lutherhill: Dancing Under the Stars held at the Hermann Sons Hall in Rutersville starting at 5 p.m. with a fried chicken and sausage meal, free will donation. There will be a live and silent auction along with music by the Back Porch Boys starting at 7 p.m. BYOB and lawn chairs. Dine in is preferred.

SLM Worship Services

Worship services for Shared Lutheran Ministry are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren Sundays at 10:15 a.m.
