Halpain Selected for LCMS Principal 360 Program
Sherrie A. Halpain has been selected for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Principal 360 Program. Sherrie was nominated by colleagues and Dr. Bill Hinz for the program and out of the entire Texas LCMS district, she was one of 15 chosen. The Principal 360 Program is a year-long program that will focus on leading a successful school in the 21st century; recruitment, retention, and marketing; strengthening and managing school finances; leading academic excellence; and innovation in the Lutheran school.
Sherrie is currently the campus administrator at Bethany Lutheran School in Austin for the church’s early childhood education (ECE) ministry. She comes from a long line of LCMS pastors, administrators, and educators. Sherrie has a Master’s in Education from Concordia University, she has finished all her Ph.D. coursework at Concordia University Chicago, and is in the final chapters of her dissertation. Sherrie is the daughter of David and Rachel McDonald of Warda and the late Rev. Marcus and Betty Wolfram.
New Bible Study at Holy Cross
A new Bible Study will begin Aug. 24 at Holy Cross Lutheran in Warda. This will cover the entire book of Joshua, providing details of what happened to Israel after their 40 years of wandering in the desert when God finally let them enter and take possession of the Promised Land. The Bible study will meet each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail. com. There is no charge to attend, but registration is recommended to make sure there are enough materials for everyone.
Camp Lone Star Annual Picnic
Camp Lone Star will have their annual picnic on Sunday July 31. The day includes music starting at 10:30 a.m., an outdoor worship service at 11 a.m., a barbecue meal at noon and a benefit auction from 1-3 p.m. The swimming pool will also be open from 1-2:30 p.m. for those wanting to enjoy the cool water. Each year Camp Lone Star serves over 11,000 individuals through their retreats, outdoor education and of course their summer camp ministry. This annual event is a great opportunity to show support for Camp Lone Star and help it to continue the ministry into the future.
Holy Cross Annual Picnic

Faith Lutheran Oktoberfest
Faith Lutheran High School will hold their annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 22. New this year will be “The Battle of The Brew,” a home brew competition. They will have their traditional German meal, domino tournament, cornhole tournament, music, kid’s games and lots of fun. Mark your calendar and make plans to attend this fun event.
Sewing and Quilting Group
The sewing and quilting group at Holy Cross Lutheran Church meets each Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon, in the old parish hall of the church. Everyone is welcome to join them for a morning of sewing, cutting, laughter, fellowship and of course yummy goodies. You do not need to be a member of Holy Cross to join this fun group. The ladies still collect all cancelled postage stamps, these are trimmed from their envelopes and sold to collectors. These can be dropped off at the church office, or in the designated box in the hallway. They are also collecting light weight dark colored bath towels (20” x 40” and 52” x 27”), individually wrapped bars of soap and individually wrapped tooth brushes for World Relief Health Kits. These can be brought to the church office.

New student registration for the 2022-2023 school year is underway. The first day of school will be Wednesday, Aug. 17.
