Gulf Coast Regional Blood Drive Slated Aug. 27 in Carmine

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will have a Blood Drive on Aug. 27 at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. You can make an appointment by contacting Khardin@giveblood. org or by logging into your established Digital Donor Account. It is in conjunction with Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top.
RT-C School News
On Aug. 14, incoming seventh graders and new students will meet from 5-6 p.m. at the RT-C High School in Carmine. Returning eighth through twelfth graders will meet from 5:30 – 6 p.m.
Chromebooks, schedules, and parking will be issued Aug. 11 and 15 at the High School with the time to be announced.
Teachers will have a workday on Aug. 7 and 15. Inservice days are Aug. 8-11 and 14.
The first day of classes is Aug. 16.
RT-C varsity and JV volleyball teams began practice on July 31. They played scrimmages in Giddings and La Grange last week Aug. 4 and 5.
Museum Visitor Center
Beginning in August, the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot will be open only on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
A burn ban is in effect for Fayette County. No burning, please.

Lutheran World Relief
The Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church are collecting items for school kits to be sent to Lutheran World Relief. There are enough pencils. Needed are 70-count spiral notebooks, blunt scissors, 30-centimeter ruler with inches on one side, pencil sharpeners, ballpoint pens (no gel ink), 2½ inch erasers, and boxes of 16-24 crayons.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. Matt Kindsvatter from Lutherhill will deliver the message at both the Saturday and Sunday services, along with the blessing of students and backpacks. Praise Team leads the songs Sunday and the noisy offering will be received. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are clean no. 1 and no. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that no. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
