FLHS Spring Thing Slated May 8

Faith Lutheran High School in Warda will present “The Spring Thing.” This is a showcase of the students’ work in the fine arts department, including vocal, instrumental and handbell pieces. Everyone is invited to join them on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. to enjoy this event.

St. Paul Spring Musical The students at St. Paul Serbin will present their Spring Musical “Discovery at Camp Wise-n-Up” on Sunday, May 19 following the 4 p.m. Graduation Service. This is a musical adventure of Proverbs. All students grades K-8 are involved in this musical.

Mother’s Day BBQ 

The Couples Club at Holy Cross Lutheran will have their annual BBQ Chickens on Mother’s Day, May 12. Chickens are $12 each and cups of sauce are $3. Pick up will be at the Holy Cross picnic grounds from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Call the church office at (979) 2423333 to place your order by Monday, May 6.

Vacation Bible Schools Here are two of the vacation Bible schools scheduled for this area: Holy Cross in Warda: June 17-19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. each evening. A light meal will be provided at 5:30 p.m. Register at: www.holycrosswarda. com.

St. Paul in Serbin: June 1014 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. each morning. No meal is served. Register at: www.stpaulserbin. org.

TWHS Scholarship 

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now open. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for Fall 2024 semester. Applications are available online at texaswendish.org and must be submitted digitally by 5 p.m. Friday, July 12. For more information contact the museum at (979) 366-2441.

Knox Memorial Scholarship Applications are now be-ing accepted for The Amanda (Zoch) Knox Memorial Scholarship. This is a 4 year academic based scholarship for an incoming 9th grade student of Faith Lutheran High School beginning in the Fall of 2024. Applications are due May 1 and are available from the school or from Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com.

Fundraisers 

The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund is holding two Spring raffles. The first is for an Ultimate Hill Country Experience for two people. Tickets for this raffle are limited and will sell for $100 each. One winner will be drawn. The second drawing will include 12 items for 12 winners. These tickets will sell for $20 each. Tickets for both raffles are on sale now, with drawings held in May and June. All monies raised will go toward a full scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman at Faith Lutheran High School. Tickets can be purchased from the Holy Cross Lutheran Church office.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday, May 16 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo, dominoes and board games are offered.

Food Donations for AMEN 

Holy Cross in Warda has a drop off basket available for food donations to the AMEN food pantry. It is located in the hallway, just to the left of the entrance.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The Wednesday night Bible Study has wrapped up their current session and is taking a break. Watch for more information on the next study coming soon.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. This covers the book “Has American Christianity Failed?” by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. Everyone is invited. Please call the church office at (979) 242-3333 to request a copy of the book for the low price of $9.

Confirmation Reunion Sunday will be May 5.
