Flatonia Rotary Hosting Pet Adoption Event April 15
On Saturday,April 15 at 10 a.m. the Rotary Club of Flatonia is partnering with Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter for a fun service event that will be held on Main Street in Downtown Flatonia.
Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS), a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, has been serving Fayette County since 1994. GJAS takes in, on average, 1,400 dogs and cats annually, many of whom are stray, abandoned, and neglected. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to enrich the lives of those in their care, until they can find a new loving, forever home.
There will be opportunities to visit with dogs of all sizes, shapes, and colors. You will be able to pet them, hold them, and talk to them, in a fun, roundtable forum designed to get future owners and pets aquainted before adopting. After you decide on your new pet, he or she can be picked up on Sunday, April 16, from 3-5 p.m. at the Animal Shelter in La Grange, 240 Svoboda Ln. On Sunday you will be asked to fill out your adoption papers, pay a $75 fee, which includes spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, rabies, microchip, and receive a free bag of pet food.
Solving some of the world’s most complex and pressing problems takes real commitment and vision. Rotary members believe that we share a responsibility to take action to improve our communities. Rotary volunteers are out in the community working hard by planting trees, and cleaning up parks and other areas, assisting Meals on Wheels, and providing the beautiful flags, which are displayed in town and in yards on patriotic holidays.
