The Flatonia Color Guard delivered an outstanding performance at the Needville Guard Contest held this past Saturday, earning top ratings and awards while competing as the only 2A school in attendance against larger 3A– 5A programs.

Among the top individual honors, Hannah Garza earned a Division 1 rating in the Novice Solo category and was named Outstanding Novice Soloist, surpassing 21 other competitors in her division. Lennon Demel also received a Division 1 rating in the Novice Solo category, while Nashawna Willis earned a Division 2 rating in the Veteran Solo division.

In ensemble competition, Hannah Garza and Lennon Demel received a Division 1 rating for their duet performance and earned the Outstanding Small Ensemble Award, placing above 18 other groups.

Additionally, the group routine performed by Hannah Garza, Lennon Demel, Nashawna Willis, and Emily Swift received a Division 1 rating.

These achievements are especially notable given the level of competition and the size classifications represented at the contest.

These students did an amazing job and continue to represent our band program at a very high level.
