Festival Hill Volunteer Service Day This Saturday
Saturday, Feb. 3, is Volunteer Service Day at Festival Hill beginning at 9:30 a.m. The annual Valentine’s Concert and Bybee Library Reception is Saturday, Feb. 10. The 2 p.m. concert supports the Festival Institute’s Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Library and Study Center. Tickets can be purchased online at www. festivalhill.org or by calling the Festival office at (979) 249-3129.
Weekend Events
Black Cat Choir will be at The Stone Cellar Saturday evening beginning at 7 p.m. Josh Tiemann will be at Busted Oak Cellars Saturday, and Jack Carr will perform Sunday. Mark your calendars for Feb. 10 to celebrate Busted Oak Cellar’s 4th Anniversary.
Round Top Family Library RTFL and FYI along with The James Dick Foundation at Festival Hill presents “An Evening with James Dick and Larry Birkelbach” on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Festival Hill Concert Hall. This special evening, James Dick and Larry Birkelbach will share their experiences of building the magnificent Concert Hall at Festival Hill. James Dick is the Founder and Director of Festival Hill, and Larry Birkelbach is the wood craftsman who began his career in 1975 and became the foreman of the many craftsmen who have worked on the Hall. Come and hear about this amazing 50-year journey and view his beautiful woodworking. A question-and-answer session will follow. This is a free event and open to the public.

Chamber of Commerce
The February Member Social and Valentine’s Day Party is Thursday, Feb. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. The night is hosted by Glamp Inn and will feature music by Mike and Annie Stroup, pop-up shopping and a cash bar.
RTC-ISD
The students have an early release on Friday, Feb. 16, followed by a holiday on Monday, Feb. 19. Monday, Feb. 26 there will be a public hearing of the Texas Academic Performance Reports at 6 p.m., followed by a school board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Round Top Rifle Hall
The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Hamburger Socials are back on the schedule. The first, second, and third Mondays of each month, the Hall is open from 5:30-8 p.m. for hamburgers, “The Rooster,” hotdogs, or chilidogs, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.
Hermann Sons Life
The regular monthly meeting for Round Top Hermann Sons Lodge 151 was held Jan. 25. President, Linda Mattocks, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. All officers were present for the installation. Attendance included 16 members and one visitor: Kim Morgan, Earl’s daughter; one new member, Jade Jacob; five new member transfers from Paige Lodge -Grayson and Paul Kipp, Valgene Ebner, and Glenroy and Waldine Ebner. Malanie Rauch sent a sympathy card for the Ted Stardig family and Mary Rauch sent the memorial. A moment of silence was observed for Ted. Another active member, Floyd Braun is currently in rehabilitation. A thank you note was received from the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department. Happy Birthday was sung to Jeanette Hancock, who was celebrating her birthday. Door prizes, furnished by Virgie Hall, were won by Pearlie Wagner and Jeanette Schoenst. Attendance prizes were won by Melanie Rauch, Jeanette Hancock, Valgene Ebner, Mary Rauch, and LaVerne Albers. The meeting was adjourned for fellowship, refreshments, and a delicious meal of steak and sausage. The next meeting will be Feb. 22.

The next monthly Mass for St. Martin’s Catholic Church will be Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m.
Lent begins on Valentine’s Day this year. The Ash Wednesday service at St. Paul in Shelby will be Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. There will be a 7 p.m. service at Bethlehem Lutheran. The first, third, and fifth Wednesday Lenten meals and services will be held at Shelby. The second, and fourth Wednesdays will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
